TMR Chinchilla–Wondai Road to receive upgrade
Council has been advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) that works are underway on a 3.2-kilometre section of Chinchilla-Wondai Road, between Aberdeen Avenue and Jacksons Road, Durong.
Transport and Main Roads Wide Bay Burnett District Director Hendrik Roux said the project would involve stabilising and strengthening the road and clearing some vegetation.
“Rehabilitating the road will make it safer, improve its longevity and reduce maintenance costs,” Mr Roux said.
“We will also remove vegetation in the corridor, which will be minimised, while still conforming to safety standards.”
Mr Roux said the clearing would take place ahead of the rehabilitation works and was expected to take about three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
“RoadTek will deliver the works, which will be carried out between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday,” he said.
“Traffic controllers, single-lane closures and speed restrictions will be in place, as required, to complete the works safely and efficiently.”
Council advises that motorist may experience delays whilst works are completed. During all road works Council requests motorists drive carefully and obey instructional signage.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2019, weather permitting.
