Notice of Roadworks: TMR Resurfacing Works for Bunya Highway and River Road Roundabout
Council has been advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) that works are underway to improve conditions at the Bunya Highway (Youngman Street) and River Road roundabout and approaches in Kingaroy.
Transport and Main Roads District Director Hendrik Roux said the existing roundabout surface would be removed and replaced with a new layer of asphalt.
“Over the years, this section of road has deteriorated, creating the need for ongoing maintenance,” Mr Roux said.
“These works will improve conditions, extend the road’s longevity and reduce future maintenance costs.
“We are committed to making our state-controlled roads as reliable as possible and these works will do that by further strengthening the network.”
Mr Roux said works would be undertaken from 6pm to 6am, Sunday to Friday, with the project expected to take about one week to complete, weather permitting.
“Nearby residents and businesses may experience some short-term noise impacts during the works,” he said.
“Working at night means the project can be completed quickly with minimum disruption to the travelling public, thanks to lower traffic volumes.
“Every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum, including reverse beeping where possible, which is required for road worker safety.
“Parking restrictions along with detours may be in place during the works and access to private properties may also be impacted for a short time.
“We will keep any access restrictions to a minimum, and the on-site crew will assist with access.
Council advises that motorists may experience delays whilst works are completed. During all road works Council requests motorists drive carefully and obey instructional signage.
